Kate Berquist
Kate has lived in Bakersfield most of her life and she has always been heavily involved in vocal music. Most people don’t know that during her high school summers, Kate participated in a touring choir group that traveled the country for about 10 days. Kate attends Parkside Church and has been a part of the worship team there for the past few years. She also currently serves on the board for Child Life Learning Center, the preschool affiliated with Parkside.

Kate’s work background consists of over 20 years in client/customer support services in various industries, primarily collections, including over 10 years in a supervisory role. She has experience with billing and accounts receivable processes as well. Kate enjoys compiling data and preparing reports, writing procedure documents and performing general administrative functions.

Kate joined the Children to Love team in March 2025 as the Administrative Associate. In her role, she assists with a variety of financial functions, including financial transactions with our partners, report preparation, accounts payable, and financial record maintenance. Additionally, she is involved with correspondence preparation, donor outreach, maintaining the office space, and file organization.

What Kate loves about CTL is the relationship with organizations in developing countries that already have a foundation in Christ. She loves that CTL supports their mission to reach and provide for children and families in need in their communities and to share the love of God. Kate says she’s blessed to be a part of that. She loves seeing the updates of the children – the joy on their faces in photos and videos encourages her.

When not spending time with family and friends, you’ll usually find Kate reading mystery/crime novels and watching movies and true-crime documentaries. Kate has a teenage daughter, Kadence, and the two love to take day trips to nearby outlet malls, play mini golf, go to arcades and concerts and escape to the coast as much as possible during the summer.
Kate's favorite scripture is Psalm 46:10, which includes the line "… Be still, and know that I am God…." This simple line reminds Kate of the importance to pause and rely on God in times of chaos or struggle, especially when independence or fear wants to take over.
We asked Kate, "If you were a pasta shape, what shape would you be and why?"
Kate: Tortellini, my daughter’s favorite!
